For many there was a time when J horror was the best thing for a scare in the genre and Takashi Shimizu’s Ju-On: The Curse was one of the first films to really kick start a formula that has been repeated over and over.

And that is the trouble, so many films and even sequels jumped on the bandwagon that fans soon got bored with the scenes of a ghostly woman with long hair, haunting those around here. Before we know it, J Horror was over as quickly as it began and even an attempt last year by yet another American version of The Grudge failed to light up the box office.

Now Netflix is attempting their viewers will one last scare as it brings us Ju On: Origins, a show based on the original movies.

Here is the synopsis and trailer for the horror show that will hit the streaming giants on July 3rd.

“The J-Horror classic franchise Ju-On was actually based on real events that occurred over four decades – and the truth is even more terrifying. Can the people haunted by this house escape from its curse? And what kind of grim incident occurred in this cursed house in the past?”
