Its been rumoured and talked about, but over the last few hours its been confirmed that the fifth film in the Evil Dead franchise is on its way and Sam Raimi has personally got involved.
The legendary director who made his name with the first three films of the franchise has himself chosen the new director for the sequel now called Evil Dead Now and that is Lee Cronin who won acclaim for his horror The Hole In The Ground.
These details were revealed by Bruce Campbell in an interview with Empire magazine.
“We’re just getting off the phone with Lee Cronin, who is writing and directing the next Evil Dead,” he confirmed when asked about a potential Evil Dead IV. “It’s called Evil Dead Now. Sam handpicked Lee – he did a cool movie called The Hole In The Ground. We’re going to get that sucker out as soon as practical”
Sadly Campbell who played fan favourite Ash will not be returning.
“From this point forward, they kind of have to stand on their own. Which is fine. And liberating…You could have different heroes, different heroines in this case. This one’s gonna be a little more dynamic…We jut want to keep the series current. And the mantra, really, is that our heroes and heroines are just regular people. That’s what we’re going to continue”
Lets hope the film lives up to the others, because even with Fede Alvarez’s remake…..the franchise has been constantly good!
