While The Conjuring 3 has been delayed until 2021, fans have been wondering what is happening with the Insidious franchise which has proved to be very popular among fans and at the box office.

After the 2018 entry Insidious: The Last Key brought the plot full circle, there was rumours that the fifth film would go back to the Lambert Family that were the focal point in the first two films.

Franchise star Lin Shaye has poured cold water on those rumours though and believes that there are no plans for a fifth film and that she feels her character Elisa Rainier is finished as her character arc is done.

Speaking on the podcast The Production Meeting she had this to say:

No, I think she’s over. … There was some idea (for INSIDIOUS 5), actually James at one point said he had an outline for #5 which would have probably gone back to the original family, which I thought was a great idea. But Elise’s story is pretty much done. They told my story. I would be in The Further if it happened. I don’t think they’ll do another.”

While Shaye is more on in the know, I am guessing that we will get to see an Insidious 5, especially as the last film made over €170m on a €10m budget.

Whether Shaye will be a part of it, is another thing but I can’t imagine any Insidous film without her and ghostly team.
