Horror legend John Carpenter has shocked fans at the Fantasia Film Festival, where he had accepted this year’s Lifetime Achievement Award, by revealing he is part of a planned new entry of The Thing franchise,

His 1982 remake starring Kurt Russell is rightly considered a horror masterpiece and while the film did have another remake/prequel in 2011, there was no real news of a planned return until today,

Here is what Carpenter said when asked about Jason Blum and his Blumhouse Studio!

“I think he’s gonna be working on rebooting The Thing,” he told the interviewer and admitted that he was part of the process.

He also called the delayed Halloween Kills “intense” and that there are no plans yet for remakes of Big Trouble In Little China and Escape from New York.
