So this has come out of nowhere. Chad and Carey W. Hayes, the screenwriters of The Conjuring franchise have announced that an Omen prequel in which they were working on for 20th Century Fox is still in development with Disney who have acquired the rights.

In a recent interview they stated:

“We did the prequel to The Omen, which is also sitting over at Fox, that, rumor has it, that it is going into production. So we’ll see what happens. We get to tell you where Damien came from. It was really fun.“

Which suggests this could be in development.

A prequel to Richard Donner’s 70s classic is an intriguing prospect after the recent attempt of a TV Show about Damien’s life as as adult, flopped.
