It was a film born from the success of SCREAM, with the added value that Kevin Williamson – who also wrote the Ghostface flick-had a hand in it and to this day, 90’s slasher I Know What You Did Last Summer is a still a favourite with fans of the genre.
The original had stars like Sarah Michelle Gellar, Freddie Prinze Jr, Ryan Phillipe and of course the final girl in Jennifer Love Hewitt and was so successful that it spawned a sequel that oddly starred Jack Black and a third film that starred no one and was so bad, that fans chose to ignore it.
This new adaption in which the storyline will still be based on the 1973 book by Lois Duncan will be overseen by Gossip’s Girl’s Sara Goodman.
Sony Pictures TV Studios co-president Jason Clodfelter said in a statement:
“We are thrilled to have I Know What You Did Last Summer with our incredible partners at Amazon Studios,”
“Neal Moritz and Original Film’s development consistently fires on all cylinders and that is proven once again with Sara Goodman’s contemporary and pulsating character weaving suspense thriller.”
This news on top of Dexter Morgan’s return, means its a good night of news for horror fans……
