The Meg was not quite the standard of JAWS, but it done well enough at the box office and has gained a massive popularity for news of a sequel to finally hit the shores in late 2021.

 Meg 2: The Trench is the title we have at the moment and not only do we know that lead star Jason Statham is back for a second bite, but we also have a surprise director at the helm, with Ben Wheatley taking over from  John Turteltaub.

Its an intriguing choice as Wheatley is more known for downbeat affairs, with the likes of Kill List, Free Fire and High Rise on his CV, with his latest, Rebecca, currently hitting Netflix.

How he will fare with a big box office action sequel is something we must admit, are all looking forward too.
