Short news story this and not much to go on, but its been announced that Wes Craven’s 1991 cult classic The People Under The Stairs is getting the remake treatment from Universal with Jordan Peele hired to produce the film.

As of yet there is no director or writer attached to this project.

The film follows a young boy and two adult robbers who become trapped in a house after breaking in to steal a collection of rare coins and finding more than they bargained for in the basement.

The late Craven himself was planning on remaking his very own film before his death as the idea seemed to heading to a TV Series format.
