Some massive news to Spider-Man fans tonight as it’s been officially confirmed that Alfred Molina is returning as villian Doctor Octopus in Tom Holland’s third outing as the web crawler.

Molina last played the role to critical acclaim in the 2004 sequel Spider-Man 2 which of course starred Tobey Maguire in the lead role, but with Jamie Foxx already confirmed to be returning as Electro who was last seen in Andrew Garfields own version of Spider-Man, we are guessing this upcoming sequel is going in a very interested place.

With Benedict Cumberbatch already signed up to appear as Doctor Strange, we are guessing his magical powers will pave away for all this to happen, but there is some more interesting twists happening tonight.

Unconfirmed reports are suggesting that both Maguire and Garfield are in talks to return as their versions of Spider-Man, next to Holland’s and Kristen Dunst is reportedly in talks also to reprise her role as Mary Jane.

Of course this is all just rumours swirling around at the moment and it’s only Molina that is the actual confirmed casting.

Jon Watts is set to helm this very interesting prospect.

More as we get it.
