Its been a very long time since we were in the company of Gizmo and those pesky Gremlins and why there has been constant talk of a third film in the franchise, the fanbase are looking forward to the upcoming HBO Max animated TV Show. GREMILINS:SECRETS OF THE MOGWAI, which as of yet has no release date.

The studio have announced though that they have already greenlit a second season which suggests that they are really confident of this brand new show being a success and while we await patiently for it be aired, we do have the synopsis to at least give us an idea on what to expect when it finally arrives.

From WB Animation and Amblin TV, the half-hour animated series is set in 1920s Shanghai and tells the story of how 10-year-old Sam Wing met the young Mogwai called Gizmo.

The voice cast for the prequel series includes:

  • BD Wong as Hon Wing
  • James Hong as Grandpa Wing
  • Izaac Wang as Sam Wing
  • A.J. LoCascio as Gizmo
  • Gabrielle Green as Elle

Along with teenage street thief Elle, Sam and Gizmo take a perilous journey through the Chinese countryside, encountering, and sometimes battling, colorful monsters and spirits from Chinese folklore. On their quest to return Gizmo to his family and uncover a legendary treasure, they are pursued by a power-hungry industrialist and his growing army of evil Gremlins.
