For many years there has been talk of a Red Sonja remake heading our way, with everyone from Rose Mcgowen linked to the leading role, once played by Brigette Nielson in the cult (not very good) 1985 flick that used the success of CONAN to get Arnie to appear, in a different role, just to get the fans to watch.
But it now seems we are finally getting some movement as its been confirmed that Tasha Huo, who is currently the showrunner for the upcoming animated Tomb Raider Netflix show is to write with Joey Soloway replacing Bryan Singer as director.
The guys over on The Hollywood Reporter managed to get some quotes from Soloway who seemed delighted to land the gig of such an iconic creation.
I have loved Red Sonja forever and I feel so honored to help shepherd her story and start this cinematic journey. There could not be a greater moment in our world for Red Sonja‘s ways of wielding power and her connection with nature and our planet,” said Soloway. “She is an ancient heroine with an epic calling, and translating that to the screen is a dream come true for me as a filmmaker. I can’t wait to collaborate with Tasha on this vision.”
We’ll bring you news of any casting when announced.
