A casting coup for The Walking Dead’s Final Season as Michael James Shaw has been cast as a major character from the comic books.

Here comes the spoiler so be warned:

Shaw will play Mercer, a character who first appeared in  The Walking Dead comics in issue 177 and was a United States Marine Corps which led him to be the leader of the Commonwealth military.

The writers are keeping quiet the details of his involvement, but in the comics he does have a romantic interest with Princess who was introduced as a character herself in the remaining last episodes of Season 10.

With The Reapers themselves introduced in this weeks new episode, all roads are leading to a brutal final war before TWD ends for good, well until the Daryl and Carol spin/off….
