Now that the dust is settling on the return of Zack Snyder’s JUSTICE LEAGUE, its time for the DC Universe to look to the future and all eyes are now on Andy Muschietti’s The Flash movie that looks likely to be having a “Multi Universe” vibe, what with the stunning news that broke late last year.
In a shocking announcement, fans were told that Michael Keaton was all set to reprise his role as The Dark Knight for the first time since BATMAN RETURNS and that Ben Affleck would also appear for the final time in the iconic role.
Keaton coming back to the franchise brought much joy to die hard fans, who still consider him as one of the best in the role, but sadly Keaton in a recent interview has cast doubts on returning and we can blame COVID for the reason why!
“To be honest with you, you know what worries me more than anything about all this stuff? It’s Covid,’ Keaton admitted in an interview with DEADLINE.
‘That will determine everything, and so that’s why I’m living outside the city here on 17 acres, staying away from everybody, because the Covid thing has got me really concerned. So, that’s my first thing about all projects. I look at it and go, “Is this thing going to kill me, literally?” And you know, if it doesn’t, then we talk.’.
At the age of 69, you can understand why Keaton is more wary of the current situation and even then, he is so busy with other projects, that even finding the time to film the much delayed THE FLASH project may prove difficult and that he hasn’t even had time to read the revised script that was sent to him.
Keaton said in the interview ‘I called them and said, “I have to be honest with you. I can’t look at anything right now. I’m so deep into this thing I’m doing. Also, I’m prepping a thing I’m producing and getting ready to do down the road in the fall that I’ll be in, and I feel responsible to that.”
As Michael Keaton is my favourite BATMAN – sorry Adam West, I do hope we get to see him for one last time in the bat suit and still live in hope that we’ll get a BATMAN BEYOND live action flick, with Keaton in tow.
