Now that the killer (or killers) have been revealed, the motive has been spoken and a whole batch of new teenagers have survived the murderous onslaught from a new Ghostface, attention turns to the next installment of the SCREAM franchise and it comes with some welcome news.

It’s been confirmed that Hayden Panettiere is to return as fan favourite Kirby Reed for the next film, a character last seen facing death in Scream 4, but a quick blink and you miss it moment in the latest sequel, confirmed that the character is very much alive.

She will star alongside the returning cast of  Melissa Barrera, Jasmin Savoy Brown, Mason Gooding and Jenna Ortega in a plot that will move the killings away from Woodsboro.

Courtney Cox has been confirmed to be back as Gale Weathers, but no news yet of Neve Campbell, but her Sydney Prescot is expected to return.

Filming is due to start in the summer.
