With the huge success of his holiday slasher THANKSGIVING, still fresh in his mind, director Eli Roth has admitted that he is very much interested in reviving two of his most popular horror franchises.
Speaking in an interview with CINEPOP, the director has admitted that HOSTEL and CABIN FEVER are still in his mind after all these years and he would like to direct any further sequels in the future.
He said:
Hostel, there’s a lot more to do. I’d love to go back to Hostel at some point. And Cabin Fever as well. They’re a part of me, like my children, and I feel like I’ve been ignoring them for too long. I’d love to go back to them, in some way. I have ideas.“
Its easy to forget how important HOSTEL was when released in the early noughties as it set the path for the gore-porn genre and while Roth returned to direct the sequel, the third entry, directed by Scott Spiegel, didn’t win much acclaim and is forgotten by many fans out there, while Cabin Fever also had two further sequels, and an awful remake, but to have Roth return to these franchises, will excite many fans and it be interesting to see what ideas he has for a return to these worlds.
