Its how to get away with murder – Die Hard style….
Viola Davis doing her best John McClane impression may sound ridiculous and dumb, because lets be honest, it is, but there is something quite old fashioned in this Die Hard style caper that in no way reinvents the action genre, but does give out a much needed silliness, held together by the always captivating Davis.
Not since Harrison Ford was aboard AIR FORCE ONE, that an American President has kicked so much ass, but Davis’s US President Danielle Sutton even puts her own security team to shame as she shows the boys how its does, with some decent round kicks and plenty of bullets as she desperately tries to save the day from the usual crowd of terrorists led by The Boys Antony Starr, who lets be honest, after Homelander, its a no-brainer watching him chomp the scenes and relishing the role of yet another bad guy.
Its the G20 where all the world leaders are present and in which Starr’s Rutledge gate-crashes and decides to bring his own party to the summit, offering a set of demands that need to be met, otherwise murder will take place. Thankfully the US PRESIDENT is a former solider who doesn’t take any Yippee Ki-yay from anyone and fights back, red dress torn and fists at the ready.
Its all B Movie nonsense with a script that brings guffaws, but for all its green screen shindigs, its all fun, just leave you brain at the door and enjoy the sight of the Oscar winning Davis going all Joan Wick….
