Much earlier than expected, THE BECOMING: Season Two finally lands today, with Chapter One set to be released on Hacked2Pieces.com and YouTube in just a couple of hours.
The original trailer announced a November 27th release date, so we caught up with writer and creator Ross Hughes to ask why the date has suddenly moved forward — and what readers can expect from our second visit to Merfill Town.
After that cliffhanger ending, there are plenty of questions waiting to be answered.
Is Reece the new Maddie?
Is Sheriff Harrison really dead?
And what exactly is a Pure-Blood?
Any spoilers, Ross?
Ha! Not a chance.
All I can say is that Season Two hopefully contains enough surprises to keep readers entertained all the way from Chapter One through to the big Chapter 12 finale.
What can we expect from Season Two?
I learned a lot while creating Season One.
Looking back at it now, I can see there are areas where I could have done things much better. At the time, I was probably just caught up in the excitement of actually making it and getting it out there.
With Season Two, I took everything I learned from that first season and tried to improve on it.
It’s bigger, bolder, more consistent visually, and the world itself has expanded. It feels like a completely different beast.
Hopefully, anyone who enjoyed Season One will enjoy this one even more.
You mentioned improvements to Season One. Does that mean you’ll eventually go back and change it?
Definitely.
It needs to be done.
Take Dylan, for example. The Hitchhiker is such a pivotal character in The Becoming, but throughout Season One his appearance changed quite dramatically.
Watching the finale back, he also looks far too young to be the figurehead at the centre of all this chaos.
So I changed his appearance slightly for Season Two.
Fans will still recognise him as the Hitchhiker — hopefully! — but this Season Two version is now the definitive Dylan.
The same applies to Billy, Beth and the rest of the main characters.
So yes, at some point I’ll go back and create The Becoming Remastered, but not until the whole project is finished. That’s something for much later.
Back to Season Two. The trailer revealed a whole new group of characters.
Yes — and the 1944 timeline is probably my favourite part of the entire project.
Readers finally get to see some of the earliest events that helped shape what is happening in Merfill Town in 2026.
It begins with a new sheriff arriving in town and a mysterious sisters’ dwelling hidden deep within Harpers Forest, led by Maggie Spencer.
The strange thing is, I never originally planned any of it.
My first idea for The Becoming was simply a story taking place over one murderous night.
The 1944 storyline only really came together when I sat down to write Season Two, and I’m delighted with how it developed.
Every time the story goes back to that period, I find myself enjoying it even more.
The trailer announced November 27th, yet here we are on October 17th and Chapter One is about to launch. Why the change?
I finished editing and locked the finale around three weeks ago.
Since then, I’ve basically been sitting there asking myself: Why am I waiting?
The season is finished. It’s ready.
So I thought — let’s just get it out there.
I’m really looking forward to people finally seeing it.
Do we finally get answers to some of the mysteries — such as what a Pure-Blood actually is?
There are definitely revelations.
But the 1944 timeline also introduces even more intrigue and raises some new questions.
So while readers will finally get answers to certain mysteries, there is still plenty more chaos to come before the full truth about Merfill Town is revealed.
And trust me — we’re nowhere near finished yet.
