When I first started working on THE BECOMING, I genuinely didn’t know what to expect.
It was something a little different for Hacked 2 Pieces. A website predominantly built around my love of horror movies suddenly became home to an original horror story of its own — a strange little town called Merfill Town, a Sheriff named Harrison, a mysterious Hitchhiker and something very, very wrong lurking beneath the surface.
Now, as we prepare to enter the final three chapters of Season One, I can officially confirm something I’ve been keeping relatively quiet:
THE BECOMING WILL RETURN FOR A SEASON TWO AND THREE
And there’s a very simple reason why.
The story isn’t over.
Merfill Town Has More Secrets
Those who have been following Season One will know that THE BECOMING has deliberately taken its time.
Questions have been raised without immediately being answered. Characters who initially appeared to be unconnected have slowly found their paths crossing, while the history of Merfill Town has begun to suggest that what is happening now may have started long before any of them realised.
And believe me…
We’ve barely scratched the surface.
Season One was always about opening the door to this world.
Season Two is where we’re going to start walking through it.
There are characters you’ve already met who have much bigger roles to play. There are events from Merfill Town’s past that need to be uncovered. And there are questions surrounding exactly what “The Becoming” is that I certainly haven’t forgotten about and also pivotal characters that are set to be introduced in the next season.
Some answers are coming. Although knowing me, they’ll probably create a few more questions along the way.
Why A Second Season?
Because I’ve loved creating this.
It’s really that simple.
THE BECOMING has been an experiment from the beginning. I’ve learned as I’ve gone along, I’ve looked back at some of the earlier material and seen things I’d do differently now, and I’ve watched the visual side of the series evolve considerably as the chapters have continued.
But that’s part of what makes this project special to me – I’ve watched it grow and I’ve also watched a small audience begin following these characters and this mystery from chapter to chapter.
THE BECOMING is simply an independently created online horror comic being produced because I have a story I want to tell and as long as I’m enjoying telling it — and people are enjoying reading and watching it — I’m going to keep opening the doors to Merfill Town.
Its crazy as this was just a simple stalk and slash tale to begin with, its DNA dipped into Jason and Michael and while I believe that there is a great slasher story still there, when I sat down to create episode two – the idea of a Sheriff Harrison instantly hit me- a character that was never in the original plotline and from that moment, I started to think of a deeper lore – a past that haunts a small town, just as much as Michael Myers hides in the shadows of Haddonfield.
But First… Season One Isn’t Finished
Don’t start thinking about Season Two just yet. We still have some business to take care of.
Three chapters remain. Chapter 9 — BATTLE OF WITS — which was just released, sees Larry take the Hitchhiker deep into Harpers Forest at gunpoint, determined to finally get some answers.
But when truths begin to emerge, the question becomes…
Who exactly has the upper hand?
Meanwhile, we’ll discover the outcome of the car crash involving Officers Lewis and Reece — and whether something else might still be waiting for them in the darkness.
From this point onwards, things begin moving quickly and everything is heading towards the Season One finale.
As for what happens after that? You’ll have to wait and see.
But one thing I can now promise:
The finale won’t be the end.
