One of the most cherished horror movies from the 1980s is the cult favourite Fright Night that saw Charley discover that Jerry, his next door neighbour was in fact a Vampire.

With its humorous tone and plot dripped in darkness at times, Fright Night is often regarded as one of the best Vampire movies of all time and while it did get a sequel in 1989, Fright Night II failed to repeat the same trick and is well known as one of the most poorer sequels ever produced.

Now director and writer of the original film, Tom Holland has confirmed that he is writing a new follow up having taken a step back in the sequel.

And his plan is to reunite all the old cast.

I’m still trying, I’m writing a sequel to Fright Night now….I’m calling it Fright Night 2: Resurrection. Well, it’s the only way to protect myself: If you wanna see something done right, do it yourself. Of course, Charlie’s back, and so is Evil Ed. I’m bringing back everybody I can. I’m calling it Resurrection because we’ve got to resurrect Billy Cole and Jerry Dandridge. And now I’ll say no more.”

While this seems exciting news, there is no official confirmation that once the script has finished that a studio will finance production, but with such a strong fan base, how could they not?

Fright Night did get a well received remake in 2011 which oddly also had a sequel that no one really talks about.

Let’s hope of a proper sequel that fits the name Fright Night
