You just can’t keep a good guy – doll down!
After the cancellation of the popular TV show, CHUCKY is once more coming back to the big screen, news that will delight the fanbase.
Don Mancini revealed at a convention this weekend that he’s currently writing a brand new Chucky movie — and it sounds like the film will harken back to the approach of Curse of Chucky — the sixth entry in the franchise that initially played things like a full-on reboot, before cleverly tying itself back into the wider story.
More importantly? It will be a return to horror.
While Curse of Chucky leaned back into the darker tone of the original Child’s Play, the franchise eventually embraced its more campy, chaotic side again with Bride of Chucky, Seed of Chucky and the later Chucky.
Mancini — who also directed Cult of Chucky — helped pave the way for that TV series, keeping everything tightly connected in one long-running timeline.
And that’s not changing.
Despite the 2019 Child’s Play reboot (which Mancini had no involvement in), his version of Chucky has remained firmly intact — and incredibly consistent.
